The UK Living Lab met on Thursday 27 February 2025 at RSPB Hope Farm in Cambridgeshire in Eastern England.
The meeting was organised by Laura Cumplido-Marin from Cranfield University and our host at Hope Farm was Georgina Bray.
The morning workshop started with Paul Burgess from Cranfield providing an update on resources being produced by the DigitAF project. Anil Graves from Cranfield provided a demonstration of the Farm-SAFE model, which is a research tool for predicting the costs and benefits of silvoarable systems. Sarah Carton from ILVO in Belgium provided a demonstration of the INTACT tool which provides a user-friendly format for guiding and predicting the costs of establishing an agroforestry system.
The afternoon included a tour of the farm including the new silvoarable system planted in January 2022, and other interventions to increase bird life on the farm.
The Living Lab meeting formed one activity of a workshop from 26 to 28 February 2025 hosted by Cranfield University on the development of financial tools. The financial workshop also included participants from Czechia and Italy, and Tiago Zibecchi from Spain who is working on the REFOREST project.
